If you have not made prearrangements for the handling of your remains, RCW 68.50.160 provides the right to make your funeral arrangement (and pay for the cost) goes to the following people, in the following order:
- Someone you have appointed your agent to make your final arrangements in a writing which is witnessed and dated.
- Your spouse (or registered domestic partner)
- Your adult children
- Your parents
- Your brothers and sisters
I encourage you to reduce the stress on your family and prearrange the details. Doing so is the best gift you can leave your family.
